Lacuna - Perky!

Whuff!

Another thank you post for [info]jaguargrin!

I should have posted this earlier, buuuuuut, I'm dumb.
So! Without further delay...

Pictures of Zo and Lacuna under the cut! )

Life's decent. There's some crazy at-home stuff going on, and more health stuff, but I'm coping.
I'm still unbelievably smitten with my significant other at this time, so that may or may not be rose-tinting everything *shifty eyes* ...

I just finished writing a paper, but have 4 more to do... thankfully, 2 of them already have massively in-depth skeletons. As in, so massively huge that I might need to take stuff OUT when I write the paper so that I stay within the wordcount.
I'll be preparing for Fantasy Alive as soon as this entry is finished... yaaay! Moo-goat gets to beat things with stick!

Gogo speedpost!

Oh, also... layout change!

Lacuna - Over the stars

Overdue update.

Hey, all.

I've mostly been lurking around LJ, partially because I have nothing terribly creative to say, and partially because I'm lazy. But I figured, since people have started poking me again to see if I'm alive, I might as well update.

In short.

My IC's back, but life's okay in the short periods of rest it permits in between episodes.
I'm going to the states for a Renaissance faire sometime in July, and going to visit my sweetie in August.
School starts again in September, and I've got some decent courses lined up.
Critters are decent enough, I suppose.
I've been doing a fair bit of reading lately, thanks to those who have been showering me with books. ^_^
I haven't felt artistically inclined overmuch until last night, where I actually made use of my insomnia.

The slightly less short version... includes art! :P )

So. Yeah.

No/Johari Window Bandwagon.

Cross-posted from FB.

It's Tuesday April 14th, 2009.
Music's playing (Seabound - Souldiver)... Patch 3.1.0 is downloading rather slowly on my two WoW-capable computers. While I curse my firewall (and lack of computer savvy) feebly, and take a break from studying the likes of Thomas Hardy, Joseph Conrad and many others, I've decided to jump on the window bandwagon.

Much like a certain Jamie, I had a great deal of difficulty with the Johari window. The idea of pinning one's self into the narrow categories of things like 'calm', 'introvert', 'extrovert', 'powerful'... well, it's hard. I don't really identify with a lot of the concepts.
It should have stuff like 'pensive', or 'cautious', or 'private'... Those all have different emotional connotations from 'introverted', or 'shy', or 'self-aware'.

So, without further tarring:

Chinburd's Johari Window

The Johari window took me a good 15 minutes to mull over, and at least two of the results were selected because "Well, I guess that's kinda like me..." seemed like the best option.

With the Nohari window, within seconds, I had a whole array of faults and flaws glaring up at me with poignant familiarity. I had to neglect no few of them in the wake of the more appropriate selections. I almost made a second one, so that I could contain them all.
Perhaps 'self-critical' should be in there somewhere. It'd save some keystrokes.

Chinburd's Nohari Window

Let me know what you think.

Lacuna - Over the stars

Home stretch...

One exam down, three to go.
Working on a paper that's due on the 12th...
Medieval British Literature stuff about Julian of Norwich and Margery Kempe - two female religious recluses who had some pretty 'cutting edge' ideas for their time period.

Last exam's on the 23rd, and then I'm done for the semester.
Exciting!

I'm trying to take things one day at a time, with just enough short-term gazing ahead so that I don't get overwhelmed and sneak-attacked by another deadline.
I have a lot of catching up to do with regards to stuff for work, but my boss gave me two weeks off so that I could keep up with my studies. True, I don't work many hours a week, but it's a matter of transit, preparation and all manner of other variables that sap away from study time.
And sleep time.

My shoulder's getting better and better... I think when it was put back into place, it was aligned better than it had been since the last time it was dislocated. I can actually put weight on it and it doesn't ache so terribly.

I've been sleeping better, with less thrashing and restlessness.
The critters are doing decently, and I've been spending more time with the chins than before - bringing textbooks into the room and just chillin' with them.

I took a break last weekend and went to the One of a Kind show... splurged and bought a number of things, including a new hat, a new sweater, a shoulder bag for my laptop, and a dress. Yes. Carly bought a dress.
Along with some new soap, delicious woods-y smelling shampoo (it seriously smells like a hike through a cedar forest), and some garlic-and-balsamic-vinegar marinade.

I'll likely post a better picture of the other stuff, but in the mean-time, the awesome hat.
It reminds me of the colours of a sunset, with salmon pinks and pale blues and pale yellows... with a brown pattern overtop that resembles tree branches and trunks. So, it looks like a pretty sunset through a leafless forest.
Kinda cool.
So you don't have to see my mug if you don't want to :P  )

Now that I'm done procrastinating and letting ya'll know that I'm not dead, I'm going to get back to that essay...
And I'm considering changing topics. Again.
It's a tossup between two recluses, and different portrayals of the biblical narrative (between Piers Plowman and the Harrowing of Hell/Crucifiction Plays).
Medieval religion is really interesting, from a historical vantage point. :)

Cheers, all.
<3 in abundance.

The sun's out. Summer's coming.

My health's been consistantly reasonable as of late - so long as I don't over-do things.
School is the only barrier between freedom and I.
And it'll be taking a recess in a few (long) weeks.

I'll get by, I'll get by.

Make a grin
Like a wolf
Pull a howl
From your throat
Vocal Chords
A Minor Key
Sanity's a single note

Let it out
Bare your teeth
We're all mad underneath

Make your eyes
Autumn skies
Like a flood of rusty swords
Every mouth
Know the song
Dismal tunes of man's dischord

Let it out
Bare your teeth
We're all mad underneath

Day 2.

02. Kettle chips, Pai Mu Tan white tea, warm blankie, heating pad, textbook.
I enjoy reading this text, and I've been doing a decent job in convincing myself that I'm reading it for enjoyment value. Not because I have an exam tomorrow... >_>
(I have the feeling that a lot of these entries are going to involve food. <_<)

01. I tweaked my mother's recipe for icing and added lemon extract. For a bed time snack, I had lemon shortbread cookies, with lemon icing, and lemon/honey tea.
I sat and snacked while watching me weird loaches clown around the tank.

Yesterday's exam was a disaster.

In other news.
Tuesday was FANTASTIC. It started with One of a Kind, which involved flouncing from one booth to another with the dear and lovely Miss Heidi, as well as my awesome mum. Near the end, we were not so much flouncing, because the floors are hard and the joints were aching, but we were prancing in spirit. Retail therapy? Heck yes.
After that, I got together with some friends, much glowing and chatter ensued over sushi, and then spilled over as we zipped to Dmitri's because the sushi joint closed.
After that, Jess and Adam came over and we chatted moar, and I shared and showed off costume ideas, tittered about critters, and then they went home.
To top it off, my order from Threadless arrived. Hooray for $5-10 t-shirts! Too bad I paid as much for shipping as I did for the shirts themselves *grumbles about duty and GST*

I spent most of Wednesday reading textbooks, and I don't think I made any progress; the material for my Contemporary Critical Theory: Problems in Method and Mediation course is still really nebulous and dense. It's right there, it's written in English, but I still don't get it.
Sigh.

At least today's studying won't be as daunting. I've said frequently that I really just want to sit down with a pot of tea and my Gender, Sex and Sexuality textbook and read it end to end. Well, here's my chance! lol.

Epoch's coming up, and I'm looking forward to mind-blasting and mauling some shit. I've gotta leave late Friday/early Saturday so I can be cleaned up and ready for work between 11 and 1.

Now that classes are over, I've had some time to sleep, and I'm feeling quite a bit better. Not 100%, but better.

(Also, Jaggyd is 1/2 way through 75 ... muaha.)

more QQ than i'd care for

ENG 3QQ3 (Contemporary Critical Theory: Problems in Method and Mediation) essay is still not done. Sucking up the late marks like, well, a sucker.
I don't have a weekend again, but I supposed that's assumed.
Hopefully I can use this time to get some sleep and solidify this sketch-tacular piece of utter shit.

ugh.

Lacuna - Perky!

o_O

I'm working on draft 4 of my Gender Studies essay, and as much as I resent it right now, it's really teaching me a lot. I've been so lazy with my previous essays. This Prof is intimidatingly intelligent and will not accept BS of ANY KIND. So it means that you have to be DAMN GOOD, or at least show that you're working your ass off. On the other hand, it means that a compliment from him is like 'homg wow'.

In retrospect, I realize that I haven't left the house for anything other than school in almost... 3 weeks? I can't actually remember the last time I did something with other people.
OH. No, I lie. I went to EB to get WotLK on the 13th. It's sitting on my computer desk downstairs. (I can hear it calling me).

The 3QQ3 essay is going to be handed in late, but since this Gender Studies paper is kicking my ass into shape, I figure it'll be worth the wait.

I had planned to take a bit of a sabbatical, but it dosn't look like it'll happen for another couple of weeks. Sigh.
ohwell.
When I get these papers done, I can install the expansion and try to be gracious when all of my friends are level 80.
I have a huuuuge problem with charity - maybe I'm too proud, or stubborn. Or something. I don't like riding on peoples' coat tails.

ohwell. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

In other news.
I slept weird and pulled something in my neck. I can't look right. >_< It's really irritating. I've been having acid reflux like woah and am getting really jittery from being inside so much.

*flail*
